Students took the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) earlier this spring, and soon parents and guardians will receive assessment results. The state assessment is one of many ways to measure student learning. Teachers will use STAAR results along with other information to support student learning in the new school year. Beginning June 7 for STAAR end-of-course assessments and June 14 for STAAR grades 3–8 assessments, STAAR results will be viewable by logging into Skyward Family Access.

Congratulations to the Miki McElroy Employee Scholarship recipients! The Miki McElroy Scholarship Foundation, founded in honor of its namesake, a long-time APISD educator, offers scholarships to APISD employees to obtain continuing education and enrich the students of APISD.

Congratulations to Lauren Sanders and Hannah Coulter, who were selected as our Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year!! These teachers will be submitted to the Region 2 Education Service Center, where they will have the opportunity to be selected as the TASA Texas Teacher of the Year. Today we hosted our End-of-Year Breakfast to recognize employees for years of service at APISD, and honor those retiring. Thank you to all our amazing staff members for your hard work and dedication this school year!

The APHS class of 2024 earned 79 certificates in Certified Patient Care Technician, and Medical Assistant, Educational Aide, Microsoft Office Specialist - Word, AWS D1.1 Structural Steel and AWS D9.1 Sheet Metal, Registered Dental Assistant, and EKG Technician and Phlebotomy Technician. Industry-Based Certifications provide CTE students with a competitive advantage in the job market. These certifications showcase the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a specific career field. By acquiring these credentials, students highlight their real-world industry expertise, making them more competitive in the job search. Students have opportunities to earn industry-based certifications within each CTE Program of Study, some of which may have specific age or industry requirements. Way to go Panthers!!

Thank you to the Aransas Pass Fire Department for leading our Stop the Bleed training with APHS and AC Blunt students yesterday after school. 48 students receiving life saving training on how to control bleeding through pressure, packing a wound, and applying a tourniquet.
