Aransas Pass ISD Superintendent Wayne Bennett has announced the hiring of Melinda Barron to serve as Principal at Charlie Marshall Elementary School. Barron will join APISD after most recently serving as an Elementary Principal at Calallen ISD.
Barron has 20 years of experience in the field of education, with seven years as a campus administrator, and has dedicated her career to supporting student success and educator development. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry, and her Master of Art in Reading from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
Barron began her career as a Classroom Teacher at North East ISD, where she served for 10 years teaching grades 1, 2, 3, and 5, followed by three years of service at Gregory-Portland ISD as a Gap Intervention Specialist where she focused on targeted instructional support and improving student achievement. For the past seven years, she has served as an administrator at Calallen ISD, leading school improvement initiatives, supporting teachers, and fostering positive learning environments.
Barron’s diverse experiences have shaped her collaborative leadership style and strengthened her commitment to educational excellence and ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.
