Serving Panther Nation - Larissa Garza - Instructional Math Coach

Aransas Pass ISD Superintendent Wayne Bennett has announced the hiring of Larissa Garza to serve as an Instructional Math Coach and Algebra Teacher beginning the 2026-2027 school year. In her new role, funded through the Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) Cycle 4 Grant, Garza will serve as part of the Curriculum Department. Garza is being appointed after serving as a secondary math teacher at Aransas Pass High School.

Garza earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina Beaufort and her Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M International University. Garza enters her new role with 11 years of classroom instructional experience in secondary math.

Prior to joining Aransas Pass ISD in 2023, Garza served as the Math Department Lead and taught secondary math, including Algebra I, and 7th and 8th grade math, at Rockport Fulton ISD. This experience allowed her to support teachers in implementing best practices in math instruction, resulting in improved student engagement and achievement.

In her role as a secondary mathematics teacher at Aransas Pass High School, Garza served on the team that developed the Math Curriculum Framework for the District in 2024-2025. Of her time as a high school mathematics educator, Garza says she “developed a deep understanding of effective teaching strategies and pedagogical approaches tailored to diverse student needs”.

“I am excited to begin a new chapter as an Instructional Coach!” said Garza. "I'm passionate about supporting teachers, strengthening instruction, and helping all students succeed”.
