The recent tragedies in our nation remind us all of the importance of safety and security in schools. We want to assure our Aransas Pass families that our district and schools have an updated emergency operations plan that has been created and reviewed in collaboration with local law enforcement. The members of our staff have been trained on the specifics of this plan, and we conduct periodic drills to ensure that everyone knows their role during a crisis. Our district also has specific protocols for entry to our schools, and we appreciate the understanding of our parents as we enforce these protocols for the safety of our children. The safety of our students remains our highest priority.

Safety Protocols and Measures in place at all APISD campuses include:

  • Access Control protocols on every campus
  • All exterior doors locked throughout the school day
  • All visitors MUST check in at the campus front office
  • RAPTOR Emergency Management App
  • RAPTOR Visitor Check In and Management APP
  • Anonymous Alerts Reporting System:  IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING!
  • Drills and Training Exercises
  • SRP – Standard Response Protocol
  • Guardian Program – armed staff
  • Behavioral Threat Assessments
  • School Safety and Security Committee (TEC 37.109) Consisting of school personnel and administration, APPD, APFD, Tri County EMT, School Board President, District Superintendent, and parents/guardians of APISD students
  • Safety Audit every 3 years as required by Texas Law.
  • Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan that incorporates the 5 phases of emergency management: PREVENTION, MITIGATION, PREPAREDNESS, RESPONSE, & RECOVERY.
  • Very close working relationship with APPD
  • APPD officers assigned as School Resource Officers (SRO) to APISD

Additional measures are in place to ensure the safety of all students and staff at APISD.  Please do not hesitate to call campus or district administration with questions or concerns pertaining to safety protocols and measures in place at APISD.
