“Extra Help”
A Student, Parent, Teacher Partnership
All students are welcome to attend tutoring to receive “extra help” whether they have a 100 average or a 75 or below average.
At Aransas Pass High School we are not going to assume that all students will be responsible enough to come to tutoring, therefore, students with a 75 or below average in a class will be assigned Required Tutoring. Students will be required to attend Tutoring until the grade average is above a 75 and the student is released from tutoring by the teacher. As teachers, our expectation it to teach students that it is normal to seek out “extra help” to ensure success. We want our students to learn, while in high school, skills to use to help them become College ready and ultimately ready for Job, Career, and Life in general. From time to time we all need “extra help” when we struggle. Tutoring is a system of “extra help” we can teach students to take advantage of while in high school.
TEACHER PROCEDURES
- Post your Tutoring Schedule in your classroom, outside your classroom door, and to the Required Tutoring Notice to be distributed to the student.
- Use the Required Tutoring form to assign tutorials.
- Contact the parent and keep up-to-date documentation.
- Conference with your students and parents, as needed, to ensure your student’s are attending assigned Required Tutorials.
Parents, we need your help to ensure your child attends Required Tutoring. Our due diligence and effort, working together in partnership, will help to ensure your child’s and our APHS student’s success.
Our expectation is upon graduation from Aransas Pass High School, our PANTHER CHAMPIONS, will have the knowledge and skills to transition into desired post secondary endeavors.
